Hi Tara; I apologize for the long delay in sending out this appreciation note for putting together a wonderful tour for our group to New York City Aug. 31 - Sept. 4th. We are so pleased with all the attractions we visited and a bonus of having the greatest guide we could imagine - Chris Lucas.
Chris's voice projected so well that even when we were on the walking Lower Manhattan Tour everybody in the group could hear what he had to tell us. Chris knows his History and made it so interesting the entire group just loved him. Tara, he is a great asset to your Organization - I just wish I could have a tremendous guide like him on all our International Tours. Like I told Chris, I have organized and customized tours for 26 years and he has been by far among one of the greatest Guide's we had throughout our World Tours.
I really appreciated the variety of Attractions you booked for us plus the location of the Hotel, Sheraton of New York, was absolutely the best, ideal for walking so close to so many places. The group fell in love with Tavern on the Green - what a lovely place ~ sad to think this beautiful property will all be changed soon. The logistics of the trip all fell into place just like a time clock including our Coast to Coast Mini Bus always showed up just as scheduled. I can't give you the credit for this; but the weather was perfect sunny days with low humidity - ideal vacation touring weather.
Our tour out to Long Island Wineries was a nice break from the big City life, the owners of Harbe's Family Farm and Baiting Hallow Farms were wonderful host - we all felt so welcome, it was another great experience. Martha Clara Vineyards obviously were not in tune for hosting a tour group. We all felt so sorry for the young man who offered the sampling of wines - he was very in-experienced and was probably put in this position for our group without any previous training. All though we all liked the place and the lunch was very good.
All in all on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the highest) I would rate this trip a 9+ for sure. I would like to also add that the New York people were very helpful and friendly as we were walking around and needed a little guidance as to where we needed to go to find something or help on the Subway - overall Tara it was a great experience and we thank you for your professional planning. "We just got back from NY and Spring Break. Everything went absolutely wonderful. This was my first trip to NYC and it was more than I had expected. All the dining arrangements went very smooth. We were about an hour late to MARS 2112 but encountered no problems since we kept in touch with them. The students really enjoyed the singers at Ellen’s Stardust Diner. Bubba Gumps’s waiters did a Trivia game and gave out small prizes. Did not see much of Ellis Island because it was packed and we ate just in time to catch the ferry back to the main land. The Hard Rock Café’s ambiance and food was excellent. The food and service at all the restaurants was great.

Throughout the entire tour I kept thinking that Chris had done these tours for years since he was soooooo knowledgeable, interesting and entertaining. "Dear Jonathan,
Thank you, on behalf of Endicott College, for your wonderful tour of lower Manhattan and Ground Zero yesterday. As occurred last year in our tour with you, the students' understanding of 9/11 and the history of lower Manhattan were enriched by their conversations with you.
In class today we asked the students what they will remember the most about the trip and how the trip impacted their understanding of September 11th. Many of them said that your words, history, and information made the difference to them. For instance:
I really enjoyed our tour guide’s narration to our walking tour because it really brought together what we could physically see that remained/was being built, while attaching a personal side to the explanations, as well as more historical aspects of the city.
Hearing Jonathan’s personal stories about how his life changed after 9/11 gave me a deeper understanding of the impact of 9/11. He described what streets were closed, how he couldn’t leave his apt, and his feelings shortly after 9/11.
Just hearing our guide talk about how certain streets were blocked off, and how the fact that life is pretty normal around Ground Zero now affected me. It was strange to think how normal life is there now.
Jonathan’s story of how his view on the building from Battery Park has changed because he associates it with seeing it on the news when the planes hit really impacted me.
Thank you, once again, for your attention to detail and excellent communication before the tour and throughout the day. The students and faculty alike will remember it always."
