The musical focuses on the naïve singer Christine Daaé as she is seduced by a disfigured musical genius known as "The Phantom of the Opera." When the young singer rebuffs the Phantom's advances and her lover Raoul intervenes, the Phantom sets no limits in his quest for revenge and Christine's love.
Having premiered in 1988, it is currently the longest running show in Broadway history, surpassing another Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, Cats.
