Frequently Asked Questions

New York City Vacation Packages is the only major independent tour company devoted exclusively to New York City. We provide accommodations, theater and event tickets, sightseeing options, admissions to museums and attractions, holiday events, dining, transportation and more. We take care of everything for you so all that you have to do is enjoy the Big Apple. We’ll even give you information and recommendations so you can experience New York like a native New Yorker!

So if you’re planning a trip to New York City you’ve found the right place. But we know you still may have some questions about our product, our service and us. We’ll answer them for you before you even ask - we’re mind readers too!

Why should I buy a package from NYCVP?

You can book a hotel room anywhere. However when you book your accommodations with NYCVP you're getting so much more including free bonus admissions to:
  • Your choice of admission to the American Museum of Natural History, the Museum of the City of NY or a Circle Line  Harbor Cruise.

AND
  • Your choice of admission to the Empire State Building Observatory, the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Top of the Rock Observation Deck.
These bonus features are worth as much as $76 per person for everyone on the booking! No gimmicks. No "buy one, get one". No minimum night stay. Nothing but free admissions to popular NYC attractions. Free. For everyone on the booking. Wow!

You'll also travel safe with our 24/7 Emergency Assistance Program - staffed by an NYCVP manager. If there's a problem we're here to help you with a trained, concerned NYCVP staffer! You don't travel alone when you travel with NYCVP.

There's more great stuff too. You'll find out everything that we include on all hotel bookings right here.

If you still don’t take our word for it, listen to what a renowned travel writer says in Frommer’s New York City guide book:

“A terrific source specifically for Big Apple packages is New York City Vacation Packages, which can sell you a complete vacation package, including hotel stay, theater tickets, and more – usually for significantly less than you can do by booking everything on your own. What’s more, NYCVP can often build a package that includes otherwise sold-out tickets to Broadway shows like THE LION KING and sporting events; they’ll even book airport transportation and dining reservations for you, if you wish.”

What if I can get a hotel room elsewhere, can I still get your free bonus inclusions?

Chances are if you think you found a hotel for a lower price than we offer, you may be misled. Our package prices include all taxes (which are quite steep in the "City that Never Sleeps") and lots of free features like admissions to some of the City’s most popular sites. Plus, when you book with NYCVP we can arrange all the sightseeing, dining, theatre and event options that you want.

If you still want to book your hotel room elsewhere we can’t stop you. But we can’t send you all the free stuff or help you with everything else you’ll want to do. Sorry. Our boss won’t let us.

What days can I arrive in NYC? When do your tours depart? How long can I stay?

Our packages are extremely flexible so you can travel at any time, stay as long as you want (with a few minor exceptions) and arrive on any day. We require just a 1-night minimum stay, but you're welcome to stay as long as you'd like. In fact, we predict you'll like New York City so much you'll never want to leave!

Do I have to buy a Broadway show or some sightseeing tour?

No. All you have to purchase through us is hotel accommodations. The free extras are just that - FREE! If you want to purchase tickets to a Broadway show - no problem. If you want to purchase a sightseeing tour or a dinner - no problem. If you don’t want anything except accommodations - no problem.

Who is NYCVP and how do I know I'm giving my money to a legitimate company?

Very good questions. We are owned by our parent company, Tenenbaums Vacation Stores Inc., who has been in the business of providing leisure travel vacations since 1983. They are bonded under the rules of the Airline Reporting Corporation (ARC).

We are members in good standing of New York City’s convention and visitor’s bureau and NYC & Company. We are also members of the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA), the New York State Tourism Industry Association, Greater New York Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Career Travel Agents (NACTA) and the National Tour Association (NTA). New York City Vacation Packages has contractual agreements with some of the biggest names in the travel industry, like Marriott, Starwood, Hilton, Gray Line -- all of whom could attest to our high standards of conduct and our professional ethics. If that’s not enough, just call us. Speak with one of our professional New York City Personal Vacation Planners. We know they’ll instill confidence in you because they know New York City, they care about what they do and they truly care about you! Travel Questions

Can you send me a brochure and guide maps of New York City?

NYCVP is a tour company that arranges vacations to NYC. We are more than happy to answer any specific questions you have about the city, but we do not have informational brochures available. We recommend you contact the NYC Visitors Information Center at 212-397-8222 and they will be able to provide you with city brochures and maps. We would - however - be happy to send you our current NYCVP vacation brochure!

What is the best time to travel to NYC?

New York City is hoppin' all year around. Prices are lowest in winter and summer, and highest in the fall and particularly the first two weeks of December.

How soon should I plan my trip?

Soon.....especially if you are planning to go for a special event - like the Thanksgiving Day Parade, to do some Christmas shopping or for New Year’s Eve. We recommend you plan very early so as not to be disappointed. And if you are traveling any other time - the sooner you book - the better chance you have to secure the hotel and Broadway show tickets you desire most. That being said - we do accept bookings for travel as late as a week prior to your departure.

What do I wear?

Since New York is a "walking" city - comfortable shoes are highly recommended! Most sightseers dress casually. Since winters tend to be cold and windy sweaters or layers are appropriate. Dining varies and there are plenty of options - from casual to dressy to  restaurants that require jackets and ties for men.

What is there to do in New York?

New York City has something for everyone!

Shopping, shopping, shopping - from South Street Seaport to the newly opened Empire Outlets on Staten Island, to  SoHo to famous 5th Avenue!

Nightlife includes everything from jazz to dance clubs to sophisticated settings with romantic singers and the lights of Manhattan in the background.

If theater is your interest - we can arrange tickets to all Broadway and Off-Broadway shows - including Phantom of the Opera, Hamilton, The Lion King, Chicago, Dear Evan Hanson and Frozen - just to name a few!

New York is full of culture and history with the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, St. Patrick's Cathedral and a multitude of museums - including the American Museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

As for dining - the options are truly endless! Being such a culturally diverse city - there is something for every taste - including French, Chinese, Jamaican, Italian, Brazilian, Mediterranean and so much more.

And if you love to sightsee there is no better place than New York city! There are tours for every area/neighborhood of the City as well as for the other boroughs that make up New York City. And the variety of tours is unmatched! There are food tours, walking tours, motorcoach tours, bike tours, fitness tours, shopping tours and more! (
So, as you can see there really is something for everyone!)

There are three airports serving New York City. LaGuardia Airport is approximately 40 minutes by car, JFK International Airport is about 60 minutes, and Newark International Airport is about 45 minutes from the hotels. The times may vary depending on traffic. Most trains arrive at Pennsylvania Station on 32nd Street and 7th Avenue - just a short taxi ride from hotels. Port Authority - the main bus terminal into NYC - is located on 8th Avenue between 40th and 42nd Street. The hotels are only about a 10-minute taxi ride from Port Authority.

Does my package take me from the airport to my hotel?

We can provide transportation between your hotel and the airport - either via Super Shuttle shared van or private vehicle. Click here for more information.

What about child discounts?

Many hotels allow children to stay free in the room with an adult. On average - at most hotels - a child is anyone ages 12 or younger - but ask your NYCVP Personal Vacation Planner to be sure.

Are you able to get tickets to concerts or sporting events?

Sure, we have access to tickets for opera, ballet, Yankees baseball, the US Open and more! Just call us for details!
